YaadMatch is a Jamaica-focused dating app for adults 18 and older. This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and your choices.
Account data
When you register we collect your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and a password (stored only as a secure one-way hash — we never store or see your plain password). Date of birth confirms you are 18+ and sets your age.
Profile data
To build your dating profile we collect what you provide: gender, orientation, what you are looking for, bio, parish born in / living in, town, interests, prompt answers, and your poll. This is shown to other members as part of matching.
Photos
Profile photos you upload are stored on our media storage. Every new photo is reviewed by a moderator before it can appear to other members — until it is approved it stays visible only to you, marked as pending, and a photo we reject is not shown. You can delete individual photos at any time in the app.
Location
Sharing your location for Discover is optional. When you choose to share it, the app asks for it only while you are actively using the app — never in the background and never at start-up — and only when you tap a location action. Your device reduces the reading to an approximate area, a coarse ~1 km grid, on the phone itself before anything is sent, so your exact coordinates never leave your device; we store only that approximate area, never a precise coordinate trail. Once you have opted in, it may refresh to a fresh approximate area when you open Discover, still only while the app is in use. We use it to sort nearby members and to show a coarse distance band(for example, “a few km away”) — we never show your exact coordinates or an exact distance to anyone, including you, and we never expose another member's coordinates to you. You can match by parish and town without sharing location at all, and you can remove your stored location at any time in the app, which also stops any future refresh. (This is separate from the typed location label you enter for YaadSafe, described below, which uses no GPS.)
Identity verification: Verified Real and ID Checked
Verified Real is a human-reviewed check, not an automated one. You complete a guided, camera-only selfie and liveness challenge in the app, and our safety team confirms a real, live person is behind the profile and that the face matches your profile photos. It is not a background check and not a guarantee that any member is safe or trustworthy — it only confirms a real person is there, and it says nothing about your legal identity.
ID Checked is an optional, additional level: a reviewer compares a government ID you submit — its photo, name, and date of birth — by hand. We do not scan, read, extract, or store any ID number. Email and phone verification are separate account-security checks; they are never shown to other members as an identity badge.
Your verification media (your selfie, and any ID image for ID Checked) is encrypted at rest under a dedicated key, kept on private storage that is never publicly accessible, and viewable only by authorized reviewers through an access-controlled, audited process — never exposed by a public URL and never shown to other members. We keep the raw media only for a limited period (about 30 days) and then purge it; a superseded selfie is purged sooner when you resubmit. The verification decision and its audit record are kept after the media is destroyed.
Chat and messages
Text and voice messages you send to a match are stored as conversation content on YaadMatch's own servers so your conversation persists. Voice messages are held on private storage — not a third party, never a public link — and can be played only by the two matched members. Messages may be reviewed by our moderators when a report or safety investigation involves that conversation. Our rules-based checks look at message text (for example, money-request language); we do not automatically scan, transcribe, or listen to the audio of your voice messages.
Reports, blocks, and safety flags
When you report or block someone we record it so our safety team can act; this is never shown to the person you reported or blocked. We also run rules-based (not AI) checks that can raise internal safety flags — for example on money-request language or pressure to move off-platform. Flags are for moderator review only and are never automatically punitive.
YaadSafe Date Mode
YaadSafe is an optional check-in companion you control. When you start a session we collect a typed location label you enter (no GPS coordinates are captured) and, if you use the manual fallback, a trusted contact's name and phone number entered for that session only. YaadSafe helps you check in and gives you a message you can send yourself. It never auto-calls and never contacts police or emergency services. Session-scoped trusted-contact details and location labels are purged when the session ends.
You can also add one persistent trusted contact from the Safety Center — again entered manually; we never request access to your contacts. We send them a short-lived, one-time link to yaadmatch.com/safe-contact/accept where they can accept or decline without creating a YaadMatch account. Their name and phone number are encrypted with a dedicated key, and only a masked version of their phone number is ever shown back to you. Once they accept, you can choose them for a Safe Date and explicitly opt in to automatic missed-check-in alerts. Automatic SMS delivery is a new capability we are rolling out gradually and is not turned on for every member yet — until it is live for you, a missed check-in is flagged in the app and you send the alert yourself, exactly as described above; we never tell you an alert was sent when it was not. You can revoke a persistent trusted contact at any time, and they can decline or ask us to remove them.
Device tokens and notification preferences
If you enable notifications we store a push device token (from Apple/Google via Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver notifications, plus your per-category notification preferences and whether you allow message text on your lock screen (off by default). Tokens are revoked when you log out or delete your account.
Security and abuse-prevention logs
To protect accounts and detect abuse we record security signals: approximate IP address, coarse device/session information, and login events. This is safety data — it is never shown publicly and never displayed to other members, and we never show you another user's raw network/IP data.
Subscriptions and in-app purchases
YaadMatch Premium is sold only through Apple In-App Purchase and Google Play Billing, processed by RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your card or bank details — Apple and Google handle payment. We store your subscription status and entitlement so we can unlock Premium features.
How we use data, and sharing
We use data to operate matching and chat, verify realness, keep the community safe, deliver notifications you enabled, provide Premium, and meet legal obligations. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers that run the app on our behalf (cloud hosting, RevenueCat for subscriptions, Firebase for push) under contract, and where required by law or to protect safety.
Retention
- Profile, photos, and text messages: kept while your account is active.
- Voice messages: the message stays in your chat history; the audio file is held on private storage and removed on a retention schedule, while reported audio is kept so moderators can review it.
- Verification media (selfie and any ID image): kept encrypted for a limited period — about 30 days — then the raw media is purged; a superseded selfie is purged sooner when you resubmit, while the verification decision and audit record are kept.
- Session-scoped YaadSafe trusted-contact details and location labels: purged when the session ends.
- Your persistent YaadSafe trusted contact (name and phone, encrypted): kept until you revoke it or delete your account, then purged.
- Security/abuse logs, reports, safety flags, and moderation audit records: retained as needed for safety, fraud prevention, and legal compliance, then removed on a defined schedule.
Account deletion
You can delete your account anytime in Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion removes your photos, voice-message audio, and verification media, deletes your device tokens and notification preferences, purges YaadSafe trusted-contact and location data, anonymizes your profile (name, email, phone, date of birth, and location are cleared), and blocks any further sign-in. For safety and legal reasons, records tied to reports, safety flags, and moderation audit history may be retained against an anonymized account so open investigations and abuse history are not destroyed. You can also request deletion without reinstalling the app on our Delete Account page.
Your choices
Manage photos, notification categories, lock-screen preview, and account deletion in the app. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play settings.
Children
YaadMatch is strictly for adults 18+. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. We prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) with zero tolerance; see our Child Safety Standards for how we prevent, report, and act on it.
